Activating SAP Best Practices/Building Blocks in SAP S/4HANA

Activating SAP Best Practices/Building Blocks in SAP S/4HANA

As mentioned, SAP Best Practices are a fast time-to-value solution for an SAP S/4HANA Implementation. One of the reasons for the fast implementation is that they are based on Building Blocks. Currently SAP has more than 590 Building Blocks, which represent a base for around 290 Best Practices.

Before activation the Best Practice Package is imported in the relevant language into S/4 HANA System via the Solution Builder.
It is important that the client currency is not maintained before activation. During activation the currency is automatically set to USD. Before activation, the settings can be changed to another currency using the Transaction /N/SMB/CD_MAINT.

Activation Steps:

1. All best practice processes (= scope items) can be displayed in the Solution Builder.

2. By selecting a process, all Building Blocks contained in the process are displayed.

3.

  • The Implementation Assistant is located under the "More" menu item. The desired best practice processes are selected here.
  • Clicking on "Activate" opens a pop-up window. Here you can decide, among other things, whether demo master data should also be imported. After confirming, the activation process starts.

4. SAP S/4HANA writes the processes and configuration data to the system tables in the appropriate order.
Important: If only selected processes are to be imported, make sure that they are activated in the correct order.

5. The processes in the system can then be tested.
