Managing Cloud-Centric Landscapes with SAP Cloud ALM

SAP Cloud ALM – The Right Tool for a Cloud-Based IT Strategy

Any time the cloud is the focus of attention, the question of how to manage cloud systems also arises.

While the strategic decision to use the cloud is made relatively quickly, transitioning systems from on-premise to the cloud is a more difficult process because cloud systems, and their applications, must be managed by a suitable ALM tool as soon as they are up and running. This tool should be able to address and cover all aspects of cloud-working as well as partly cloud-specific processes.

On-Premise versus Cloud ALM

SAP Cloud ALM is designed to meet the demands of the cloud environment. System landscapes located in SAP's public cloud environment benefit most from the functionalities offered by SAP Cloud ALM.
There are also benefits to using SAP Cloud ALM in a private cloud environment. However, careful consideration must first be given to the specific target scenarios. The functional scope of SAP Cloud ALM is by all means comparable to the functional scope of SAP Solution Manager – the ALM tool for on-premise landscapes. However, ALM for on-premise landscapes is far more demanding than ALM for standardized processes in cloud systems. SAP Cloud ALM is also better at integrating functionalities from third-party systems such as Signavio or Tricentis.

Friends of Cloud ALM

End users of SAP Cloud ALM can easily and conveniently tap into the numerous benefits associated with many of the functionalities in third-party systems such as Signavio or Tricentis. Both systems represent many years of expertise by their respective companies. This expertise and the accompanying functionalities have been fully integrated into SAP Cloud ALM, thereby facilitating the efficient application lifecycle management of connected cloud systems.
