The client faced the challenge of implementing a legally compliant solution for electronic invoice submission in Greece within the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. As no adequate standard interface was available, XEPTUM developed an integrated implementation of e-invoices in S/4HANA Public Cloud in Greece via the MyDATA interface – based on the SAP Integration Suite. This enabled the legally required B2G integration to be implemented on time and entirely cloud-based.
What is MyDATA (My Digital Accounting and Tax Application) and what obligations does it entail for companies in Greece?
MyDATA is a digital platform of the Greek tax authority IAPR, aiming to modernize and digitize tax and accounting processes. Companies in Greece are obliged to submit their tax and accounting data electronically via MyDATA. This obligation includes reporting revenue and expense documents as well as accounting entries to ensure comprehensive and transparent e-accounting. Compliance with these regulations is mandatory for all companies and is intended to increase tax transparency and reduce administrative effort.
What types of business transactions must be reported to the MyDATA platform?
Various types of business transactions must be reported to the MyDATA platform. These include:
- B2B and B2G transactions,
- Invoices,
- Credit notes,
- Payments,
- Delivery notes,
- other financial transactions such as expenses, and
- B2C events.
These reports are necessary to provide the tax authority with a clear overview of companies’ financial reporting processes and to ensure compliance with tax regulations. Data transmission for B2B and B2C occurs in real-time.
Can MyDATA integration be automated?
Yes, MyDATA integration can be automated to minimize manual effort. With an on-premise system, e-invoices can be sent directly to the tax authorities. With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, middleware, such as the SAP Integration Suite in this example, must be used as an intermediary. In both cases, it is necessary to use a licensed third-party company as a “middleman.” Therefore, data from your own system and middleware is not sent directly to MyDATA but must be transmitted to one of these service providers, who then forward it to the government portals.

Integration with the Public Cloud via the Integration Suite: XEPTUM’s Experience
XEPTUM was one of the first companies to successfully implement MyDATA integration with the Public Cloud. Although SAP offers pre-built solutions, we found that they are not fully mature. To meet the requirements of the Greek tax authorities, we had to incorporate complex logic, especially for B2G, as certain e-documents had to be processed via our service provider IMPACT. Additionally, it was necessary to retrieve data from the SAP system. Subsequently, a QR code was printed on the invoice.
In doing so, not only were the legal requirements met, but the entire process of inbound and outbound invoice processing was automated – significantly increasing process efficiency. This way, challenges were successfully transformed into opportunities.
